The Snake River Canyon
Accessed on the Jerome Side

It all started here. The bridge that is partly visible in these photos was the only bridge across the Snake River in this area until 1927 when the Perrine Bridge was built. The waterfall is one of MANY that falls into the snake river from the canyon walls, usually caused by irrigation run off. The Snake River Canyon holds so much historical value in the creation of the Magic Valley. I.B. Perrine, widely considered the founder of Twin Falls and many other Magic Valley towns, first made his home, ranch, and farm in the Snake River Canyon. Down in the canyon water was plentiful and easily transported to water crops. This was not true for the areas outside the canyon. Until Perrine convinced outside investors to fund the building of a dam on the Snake River, and canal system. It was this that ultimately led to the development of Twin Falls.
