High School Sports

Stopped by Jerome High School to catch a few photos of the game between the Jerome Ladies and the Filer Ladies. High School and College sports are a great part of living in Southern Idaho. It's awesome to see communities come together to show their support for their favorite team.

90 and Beyond!

Just yesterday the Twin Falls Senior Citizens Center there was a huge birthday party to celebrate all those brave souls who dared to live to 90 and beyond. The Clicky Chicks really enjoyed meeting these amazing people. Though there are just a few images here, 21 people were celebrating being 90 or over! WOW! Diane Stevens, the Director, arranged and organized the party. She did a fantastic job and everyone had a great time! She also told us that there is a HUGE Superbowl Party in the works. Come by and root for your favorite team!

Beauty

Took a short drive up to Bellevue and Hailey. Arriving in Bellevue is like stepping into a painting. The majestic mountains on both sides of the Wood River Valley are covered in snow this time of year. The fog that's been tormenting us in the Magic Valley was visually stunning as it was flowing down over the mountains and into the valley. We're so lucky in Southern Idaho to have so many beautiful places close enough to visit.

FOG...Brought to you by: INVERSION!

According to Nick Kosir, Meteorologist at KMVT, the fog we have been experiencing is a result of an "inversion". This phenomenon is caused when cold, dense air is trapped below warm air. Much like when you put a lid (representing the warm/less dense air) on the top of a pot of steaming water (representing the fog/cold air). The lid will trap the steam below it and not let it rise and burn off. Nick says we should expect this for a couple more days. One positive thing is NO WIND! :D

Thanks so much Nick Kosir for your cameo appearance here on Clicky Chicks! You can see Nick and his very beautiful and talented wife, Danielle, weekdays on the KMVT Rise and Shine Morning Show!

Indoor Fun

McDonald's

Even when it's cold and gloomy outside, there are still lots of fun activities in the Magic Valley. McDonald's has a clean play area for young children and they even let you bring in your own snacks.

The Herrett Center for Arts and Science
The Herrett Center has lots to offer for an escape from a cold or rainy day. There is a lot of educational information about our area, as well as hands on activities for the kids. On specific evenings they even offer Planetarium Shows. To visit the Herrett Center is free of charge, there is a small fee for the Planetarium Shows.

Hop 2 It
Hop 2 It is another really fun indoor place to take kids. There are several large bounce houses with different activities to draw the kids attention. The ball pit was a popular hangout for the littler ones running around. Parents are encouraged to bounce and play with their children, or there are places to sit and watch.

There are many other fun indoor options around the Valley, we hope to share more of them with you in future posts. For more information about the Herrett Center for Arts and Science check out their website http://herrett.csi.edu/ or for information about Hop 2 It see their website http://www.hop2itparty.com/

Sheppard Park in Jerome

We visited Jerome's Sheppard Park today, this park has many things to offer. Some old classics like metal slides, and wood climbing structures, as well as a large newer play structure. There are covered picnic tables, tennis courts, and lots of open grass areas to play in. Sheppard Park made for a fun evening, family outing.

January 20, 2011

We saw seven eagles in these trees, and according to a local man there are often 30 or 40 around this area at any given time. The sky went from a beautiful blue to a fire red, orange, and yellow till the sun dipped below the horizon filling the entire sky with beautiful pinks and purples. Southern Idaho is a place of simple, yet magnificent wonders!
