World War II Planes Arrive in Twin Falls
(Magic Valley Regional Airport)
Linda Rosa, a faithful Clicky Chicks follower and her mom, were spotted checking out the planes today.
Head on over to the Magic Valley Regional Airport and check out the B-17 and B-25 World War II planes. For a small donation you can take a tour of the inside of the planes, and even sit in the co-pilot's seat. Make sure to bring your camera. If you are interested, you can even book a ride in one of these awesome planes. They will be at the airport till September 19th.
My Mom was sharing some nostalgic memories about hearing the B-17's fly over her neighborhood creating a mighty rumble. Her father was a Naval officer and ships dentist. Her mother was their areas rations director. They lived in a Chicago suburb called. Everyone was involved in the war effort. Even as a a child, Mom was a a Girl Scout and the girls would go out and collect scrap metal. Every home had to have heavy curtains that would block out light. Every block had a block warden that would go around checking for light leakage, because it was to be total blackout every night. You'd get a knock on your door if he could see any light coming from your windows. It's very hard to imagine our country in such total unity while enduring the hardships. All while worrying about Sons, husbands and fathers being killed in a far-reaching war being fought on several fronts.
ReplyDeleteWhere has our loyalty gone? Where is our America that inspires it? If you get a chance, go see these planes and think about the conditions the men were fighting in. They were true American heroes.
